What I have learned here...

Ever since my Introduction to Business class, I have been impressed by the business program here at BYU-I. There is a marvelous union of the spiritual and the material as we are taught how to prepare ourselves for our own businesses. When I was looking at the syllabus for this class, at the different papers we would be writing and the books we would be reading, I started to get excited for another great semester. And it has fulfilled all of my expectations.
I feel like this business education is valuable for anyone to learn. I have recommended this class to all of my friends, whether they are business majors or not.

These are some things that I have learned during the semester that I didn't know at the beginning (an abridged list, of course):
1. The powerful role of Divinity in our business lives. God truly cares about us and how we are influencing the world.
2. Money management strategies. From the "Ministry of Business" and "Launching Leaders," I learned about a profitable way to divide up my money.
3. The effectiveness of goalless striving. Before reading "Mastery," I thought that goals were everything, that they were key to progress. And in many circumstances they are, but I loved the concept of working towards something with only the idea that you were going to keep going at it.
4. The people in my life will affect the future of my business. Whether they're the people who encourage or discourage me, the mentors I choose, my business partner, or my family, who I surround myself with will be who I become.

But the most important lesson that I took away from this class (besides #1, of course) was the importance of persevering. I will face challenges on this road that I have chosen, and that's a good thing! Those obstacles can help me grow as I find ways over or around them.
